After many years in IT tech support and web dev, I unexpectedly ventured onto a new path. Now I'm in my thirties and have a double degree in Earth Sciences! I am raising fowl, a goat, a horse, four cats and a husband. I spend my free time in the garden and with my animals. Currently, my long-suffering husband and I sleep with one of our cats in the bedroom with a young pullet in a cat cage on a shelf who refuses to sleep with the other chickens! It strangely works out. My husband is an aspiring author writer and often blogs a story about our lives on the farm etc.

I am passionate about chickens, cats, web design, blogging, Pinterest, sprouting seeds, taking cuttings and other gardening, trialling make-up and hair products, baking, writing stories, spinal disabilities, making things and offering all kinds of advice to people.

Being one who loves to read, TaintedBlood.org is an old URL I purchased in 2002, inspired by the Margaret Weis science fiction fantasy Star of Guardians series of novels. Jazhiaran and Ashe are the names of rpg characters I created in the 90s inspired by the Raymond E. Feist fantasy novels following Pug the magician.

Paintball is illegal in Tasmania. Why?

I find it ridiculous that laser tag and third person shooter games and mock historic battles (knights etc.) are ALLOWED in Tasmania, which are war games, but paint ball is not. Paint ball is a fun sport that is used in team building days in NSW, and works really well.

Just because ONE crazy individual decided to go to Port Arthur and shoot innocent people, why are the rest of us being subjected to such an almost racist targeting? The government is indicating that Tasmanians are not trustworthy with guns, even those that won't hurt a person, but the rest of Australia is. It is hypocrisy. And little wonder the rest of the nation laughs at mention of Tasmania.

Punishing everyone in Tasmania because of one man who shot and killed a lot of poor souls at Port Arthur is NOT the way to go. As I recall, people of Islam are still allowed into New York City, even though a number of extremists killed thousands of people. Laser gun games for teens is legal, kids playing war games and cowboys and indians is okay, first person shooter video games are legal, rough and sometimes brutal sports such as football is accepted, boxing, martial arts and mma competitions are legal so what the hell is so bad about paint ball games, wars, competitions etc.

A good clean healthy activity that provides an escape from daily stress, provides skills in leadership builds friendships and improves fitness and well being whilst in many situations provides knowledge and appreciation of the environment.

Legalise paint ball activities or ban all use of firearms, archery, video shooter games, war and action films, rough and combative sports in Tasmania. Let's go further and make it compulsory for all our children to only have dolls to play with and make it illegal to buy water pistols for hell's sake they might squirt each other and some do goodie activist may perceive that as war games - oh no the evil little beggars how dare they.

Wake up all you crazies out there - paint ball activities are great fun and not the precursor for some idiot to go out with an automatic rifle and shoot people. Wouldn't it be easier to use a car. ++Help Legalise Paintball in Tasmania Petition | GoPetition

It has been proved to be a safe and enjoyable past time. I also feel that its another way to bring tourists to our Island, not just as paintballers but also for other tourists as another fun activity.

A similar sport, laser skirmish, is legal and schools even take their students to play it with laser guns while wearing full camouflage. The only difference is that paintball guns fire pellets of paint. It doesn't promote a 'gun culture' because paintball guns are obviously not real firearms and people won't treat them as such. The government should not be banning these non-lethal weapons. Protective gear should be required at all times.
