Hi there, I'm Ashe.
Ashe de la June

After many years in IT tech support and web dev, I unexpectedly ventured onto a new path. Now I'm in my thirties and have a double degree in Earth Sciences! I am raising fowl, a goat, a horse, four cats and a husband. I spend my free time in the garden and with my animals. Currently, my long-suffering husband and I sleep with one of our cats in the bedroom with a young pullet in a cat cage on a shelf who refuses to sleep with the other chickens! It strangely works out. My husband is an aspiring author writer and often blogs a story about our lives on the farm etc.

I am passionate about chickens, cats, web design, blogging, Pinterest, sprouting seeds, taking cuttings and other gardening, trialling make-up and hair products, baking, writing stories, spinal disabilities, making things and offering all kinds of advice to people.

Being one who loves to read, TaintedBlood.org is an old URL I purchased in 2002, inspired by the Margaret Weis science fiction fantasy Star of Guardians series of novels. Jazhiaran and Ashe are the names of rpg characters I created in the 90s inspired by the Raymond E. Feist fantasy novels following Pug the magician.

Supplement use for hair growth - my hair journey beginnings

Hair supplements I use for hair growth.

First of all - I have hair down to the bottom of the small of my back [edit 2016, hair is below my butt] - but I have extremely fine, brittle hair which means that I don't have many hair follicles the further down my back you look, and the ones I do have break easily and are very thin.  This has been made worse since I removed the dark brown from several layers of hair, and lightened the top layer ash blonde and caramel.  Yes, I have three tone hair in layers, now.

I started a hair journey a couple of weeks ago, so I have gone completely mineral and vitamin mad.  Supplements I once raised an eyebrow to and sneered at, are going down my gullet twice a day.  I did my research, of course - not scientific, but real-live-people research, as in the hair journeys of YouTube bloggers like farahdhukai (I must admit, I've gone hair oil and face scrub mad due to her, also :-).

I have noticed break-outs with biotin ONLY when I haven't drunk enough water; but those break-outs disappear overnight if I skull a lot of water to make up for the deficit   They're the only pimples I've ever had that disappear without a trace in just hours.

I figure the supplements I'm taking will only help me with my weight loss journey, as well.
I am taking...  a.m.:
  • 300mcg Biotin x 1 tablet.
  • 500mcg Folic Acid x 1 tab.
  • Hair Skin and Nails (with 2.6mg biotin and 120mg silicon, etc.) x 1 tab.
  • 600mg Calcium x 1 tab.
  • 1800mg Omega 3+EPA+DHA x 1 tablet.
  • 325mg(+other things) Magnesium x 1 tablet.
  • 750mg Glucosamine and 750mg MSM x 1 tablet.
  • 350mL no-added-sugar OJ with doses of: Chlorophyll,
  • Spirulina (I was taking 4 Spirulina caps a day), and Wild Krill Oil.
I am taking... p.m.:
  • 0.5mcg Mineral Tissue Salt - Calcium Phosphate x 1 chewed tablet.
  • 300mcg Biotin x 1 tablet.
  • 500mcg Folic Acid x 1 tab.
  • Hair Skin and Nails (with 2.6mg biotin and 120mg silicon, etc.) x 1 tab.
  • 600mg Calcium x 1 tab.
  • 1800mg Omega 3+EPA+DHA x 1 tablet.
  • 325mg(+other things) Magnesium x 1 tablet.
  • 750mg Glucosamine and 750mg MSM x 1 tablet.
And a LOT of water.

Now, note that some of these things are for general well-being, injuries I have and for my hair.  In Australia, 2.6mg (or 2600mcg) seems to be the highest amount of biotin I can find in one pill.

I did not start taking 2.6mg off-the-bat.  I worked up to it from 300mcg once a day, to twice a day, to four times a day, to 2.6mg and then 2.9mg twice a day over a period of two weeks.  I have to say that my skin is looking absolutely glowing.  Aside from my sun damage earned from a 15 hour climb up and around New Zealand's "Mt Doom" (Ngauruhoe, Tongariro, etc.) and having moved back to similarly ozone deficient Tassie (thanks American government in the 80s), my skin looks great.  I haven't been on anything long enough to comment on my hair and nails yet - but it certainly shows in my skin!  I'm also using eye cream which is actually the oils from Evening Primrose caps, pure Argan and pure Vitamin E.  The lines I do have are looking finer, the skin more relaxed.

I'm using this mix on my surgical scars also, but they're a little more difficult to fix considering how deep the scarring goes (keloid).

On my hair I'm massaging pure Sweet Almond, Grapeseed, Olive and Argan oils into my hair most evenings, then sometimes put my (purple food dye - 2 drops red to 1 drop blue) Tresseme Salon Silk conditioner through my hair to leave on, also.  The only problem is - the days I wash my hair, I cannot get the oil out, so I spend most of my time with oily hair. I am still using only conditioners in my hair, but at times I'm so frustrated by the oils left in my hair that I'll use shampoo - not that it helps!  Will start using my trusty exfoliating friend, Bicarbonate Soda, as a rinse next time I wash.  Maybe some Apple Cider Vinegar also (I hate the smell though).

Update soon.
