I visited the discount plant place in Sorell on Sat, and might have gone plant mad, again. This time, I bought plants that the chickens and ducks could enjoy. They only had one plant to hide under (as well as shelter), in the form of an 8 year old Golden Diosma. So, I bought another one of those, five reed grasses, and three other hardy plants, to plant in the backyard. I bought one purple daffodil, and four almost dead NZ flaxes for my front door area. I also bought a purple Penstemon flowering shrub to mix with the pink Penstemon already thriving. Back at the ranch....

That afternoon, I planted all of them - the last five in pots I also bought (KMart $2 pots ftw). I have also now moved all six strawberry plants from the chicken area in a garden bed, into more coir hanging baskets.

I fricken love gardening. Wtf. When did this happen? :P oh, a year ago... Yes.

My dwarf beans are producing a lot;
my overzealous cucumbers have died down; my tomatoes are over producing;
my corn all have ears;
planted snow pea seeds,
planted a Salvia beside my sage with the Penstemon then in same area, again cut back the over-growing Cosmos;
planted a Boysenberry with my acidic berry plants in a horse bath;
cut back several overgrowing planted trees around my place and the veggie garden to reduce possums hopping over fence thus avoiding the slight shock of the new electric fence*;
helped as dad installed tall star pickets around garden.


*I've accidentally touched the electric fence several times, and touched it to test it on purpose - it is not harmful, just discouraging. Like touching metal and giving yourself a static shock! My horse has touched it too - which has made him wary of trying to steal the wheat pollard from the birds. :P
