Hi there, I'm Ashe.
Ashe de la June

After many years in IT tech support and web dev, I unexpectedly ventured onto a new path. Now I'm in my thirties and have a double degree in Earth Sciences! I am raising fowl, a goat, a horse, four cats and a husband. I spend my free time in the garden and with my animals. Currently, my long-suffering husband and I sleep with one of our cats in the bedroom with a young pullet in a cat cage on a shelf who refuses to sleep with the other chickens! It strangely works out. My husband is an aspiring author writer and often blogs a story about our lives on the farm etc.

I am passionate about chickens, cats, web design, blogging, Pinterest, sprouting seeds, taking cuttings and other gardening, trialling make-up and hair products, baking, writing stories, spinal disabilities, making things and offering all kinds of advice to people.

Being one who loves to read, TaintedBlood.org is an old URL I purchased in 2002, inspired by the Margaret Weis science fiction fantasy Star of Guardians series of novels. Jazhiaran and Ashe are the names of rpg characters I created in the 90s inspired by the Raymond E. Feist fantasy novels following Pug the magician.

My ex bought me this in US for Christmas :) the moral of that ten year long story is: friendship should last, even when the relationship couldn't. Unless they cheat, of course...

My native hen (turbo chook) friends, following me around. :)

Possibly the most awesome gadget for same people /ever/: a bag reseller from Avon.
I've just been resealing every pesky pack I'd previously had to place in plastic bags and Tupperware. If I'd had this a year ago, that 1kg bag of salt (I use to clean the bbq ) would never have kept spilling!

It is a great feeling to have grown the majority of the veggies and fruit you eat. :) right now, i am only able to harvest the medium chilli, yellow and cherry tomatoes, white potatoes, numerous lettuce, leb cucumber, strawberries, catnip, oregano, carrots and lemons.

During the next four seasons I look forward to harvesting my growing: garlic, onion, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, red and black currants, young&josta berries, chives, pumpkin, sweet corn, capsicum, sweet onion, cabbage, hot chilli, watermelons, sage, thyme, parsley, rosemary, snow peas, dwarf beans, normal sized tomatoes, bananas, apples, oranges and probably others I have forgotten.

Lazy ravioli pasta with homemade tomato and vegetable sauce. Yes, I put grated lite cheddar and Parmesan cheeses on it :P

I grew this muthafuggers.

L, indicating a rather Daniel Bryan-looking "NO!" at a scratching post.

S and the turbo chooks wanting my attention. They followed us as we walked up the road. Blue buckets: during the day they are far away from the dam and usually get their water from our fountain; since the fires nearby (hot days), I've had to give them water in buckets as the fountain dried up.

My favourite "Taste of Tasmania" dessert (read: what I go there for), the Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm baked cheesecake. Best.thing.ever.

This is how dry it is down here. "Julie smd Chris Tisdell", go fuck yourself. We are in drought down here you senseless cow.  Trust me, after the email she sent me a year back, she deserves that.
